Recently I have been working on starting my own business. I have worked as a fundraiser for the past 10 years. Specifically I raised money for arts organizations in the Winston-Salem area. During this time, I was employed by The Arts Council, who's principle purpose is to raise money from individuals and businesses and then grant it out to local arts organizations and individual artists. Throughout my career, I noticed a few consistencies. 1) artists always need money 2) they do not understand most marketing concepts 3) they are unable or do not want to understand these concepts. After being laid off from my job, I decided it was time to do what I had always dreamed; help artists market their work so they could make more money.
That's how "Working Artists" was born. I am currently representing a few clients but am looking for more. At the same time, I am looking for appropriate venues to display their work and am collecting names and addresses of art's patrons who might be possible buyers. I hope someday, to have my own gallery so I can make more money and help more artists become "working artists."
